Installation of Zing takes one of three forms, with some variations within each form. That means a generic error like "install didn't work" should first be narrowed down to the installation type. The most common installation types are:
Trial downloads using Yum or Apt-Get. Installation of Zing uses RPM or DEB files for each package manager, respectively.
Evaluation packages based on the Zing Pilot Assist Kit. The Zing PAK is itself a shell archive, with one ZVM and many ZST components within it.
Component-based installation of the Zing System Tools (ZST) and Zing Virtual Machine (ZVM) individually. The ZSTs may be either RPM or DEB based on distro package manager, while ZVMs can be any of RPM, DEB, or shell archive file types.
The pecking order of assistance should be as follows:
Review the associated documentation guides. Zing trial downloads have a brief Quick Start guide. The Zing PAK has its own user guide and release notes. Zing components offer the comprehensive User's Guide with a whole section devoted to installation, plus release notes for each component.
The Zing Community Forum remains a good place to see whether other people faced similar situations or to sign in to ask questions.
